Many producers like myself have been faithful buyers of the SONY MDR-V600 headphone for years which I love. They were loud and crisp. They were perfect for mixing all my tracks. But SONY discontinued them, So then I decided to take a chance on the SONY MDR-7506. They got tremendous reviews from Amazon customers. But when I got them I was disappointed. The sound was tinny and only got tinnier the more you turned up the volume. I had to try and take a chance on other headphones for 2015, and after reading some reviews on the Audio-Technica ATH-M30X I decided to buy them. I was not disappointed. The Audio-Technica ATH-M30X have good bass, are clear, you can crank them up without the tinny sound of the SONY MDR-7506, and they are very light and comfortable as they go over the ears. They are very durable headphones, I have dropped them numerous times and have no noticed any difference, the cords are also very strong as I tangle my cords quite a bit moving around. I need my good bass with no tinny sound whatsoever and the Audio-Technica ATH-M30X pretty much meets my love of listening to my heavy metal or hard rock music loud, they are also perfect for producing EDM and hip-hop beats. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy the Audio-Technica ATH-M30X again but I might take a chance on the Audio-Technica ATH-M50X next time to see if I might even like them more. But I’m pretty happy now and sending my recently purchased SONY MDR-7506 to be mothballed.
